Cerec technology has been around since 1986
Cerec is a chairside system for the manufacturing of porcelain fillings / crowns or veneers in a SINGLE visit with Mareeba.
The technique avoids the use of impressions, temporary crowns and the need for a return visit and further injections.
The process is quick, comfortable and allows us to create a high quality, long lasting, aesthetic restoration.
We have had the technology available in our practice since 2001 and are the most experienced practitioners in Far North Queensland, having placed over 3500 restorations in that time.
Greg has lectured on porcelain facings to members of the Australian Society of Computerized dentistry, and is currently Treasurer of this association.
CERE means porcelain crowns, veneers inlays and onlays can be completed in a single visit.
Our CEREC system allows us take an optical impression of your tooth, and then design the restoration on a computer. The milling machine then cuts the porcelain to exact specifications. This is completed within 15 minutes after the design. The crown is then fitted, polished or glazed and then bonded to the tooth permantly, all in a single visit.
CEREC uses Vita Mark II porcelain. The material properties which are advantageous to this technique are:
- Same particle size as enamel so it wears at the same rate as your tooth
- Expands and contracts the same as enamel with hot and cold in your mouth so there is less strain on the chemical bond
- Made from a solid block so has greater strength
- Can be glazed or polished
- Is all porecelain and metal free
